Improved Headset Noise Attenuation – 1st November 2009
Lynx Avionics has announced a significant improvement to the passive noise attenuation performance of their aviation headsets.
All Lynx headsets now incorporate a new type of loud speaker assembly which combines with the Silicone Gel Ear-Seal assemblies to improve the low frequency noise attenuation by 8dB. This improvement is more than that claimed for some electronic active noise attenuation headsets (ANR); in addition, because the increased performance is not dependant on electronic processing, the new headsets provide the same sound quality and reliability as previous versions for the same cost.
Unlike other British suppliers – who produce headsets from industrial ear-defenders – all of the plastic parts that make up Lynx headsets are designed and manufactured by the company. The latest developments in headset performance are a direct result of this in-house design and engineering capability.
In line with Lynx's policy of backwards compatibility, all headsets manufactured since 2002 can be returned to Lynx for an upgrade to the latest specification at nominal cost.
