Garmin GPSMAP 496 moving map aviation GPS system
The NEW Garmin GPSMAP496
Now optimised for the European market, the latest portable aviation unit from Garmin, the GPS MAP 496 improves on the superb GPSMAP 296 with many features of special interest to European users.
An industry first is the ability to give voice commands, similar to TAWS warning systems - connect via a jack plug into your headset or intercom (may be dependent on specific headset or intercom in use)
The Garmin GPSMAP496 offers many significant improvements over the GPSMAP296 including:
Enhanced 9.25cm display, 320 x 480 pixels, 256 colour, sunlight-readable.
Faster (5Hz) refresh rate for smoother, seamless display
Improved mapping detail with higher resolution
VRPs and obstacles have been added to the database
Private airfields & heliports
Airspace customisation and optimisation, improved "declutter" functions:
"Show Airspace" only shows airspace below a user-defined level (if you exceed that level, all airspace return to the display)
"Smart Airspace" changes the boldness of airspace displayed depending on your altitude, so airspace relative to current altitude is shown bolder than airspace which is not so relevant.
Improved display of ATZ and MATZ information
Extra value automotive functions:
Detailed street-level mapping data in automotive mode, data included is the City Navigator database
Automotive kit (auto mount and cigar-lighter adaptor with speaker) supplied as standard
(all these items previously an extra-cost option for the GPSMAP296)
